MARGAO
Fatorpa “ a splendid drive held before the historic Opinion Poll so that Goa remained an independent entity within India AAP has in fact drawn up a two-day function, which would commence at the Fatorpa temple on October 16 on Sunday, a day before the actual death anniversary of the father of Opinion Poll, Dr Jack de Sequeira. On the occasion, mashaals will be lighted by a dignitary in the presence of AAP volunteers, especially all the 40 AAP Goa assembly constituency coordinators. These respective mashaals would then be taken on the anniversary day morning to Dr Jack de Sequeira circle at Dona Paula. It also includes public gathering with a speech by Elvis Gomes and bike and car rally from Fatorpa to Cuncolim.
Addressing the media, AAP leader Ohm Gomes said the two-day program is meant to unite Goans across Goa, cutting across religious, caste or any other divide created by the politicos belonging to the traditional mainstream political parties. “Whether it is South Goa or North Goa, both are part of one Mother Goa and all Goemkars are her children,” he said.
He said the concept is to showcase the identical ideals of pro-people honest, secular, transparent governance models of AAP with that of Goa’s first opposition leader, Dr Sequeira. “Similar to AAP’s ideology, politics being a vocation to offer selfless public service, Dr Sequeira too preached and practiced altruistic service to Goem and Goemkars,” Gomes said, adding that Dr Sequeira wanted Goa to be developed as an important tourism destination and a role model state of India.
