Politicos and police among guests at her calangute residence
Calangute PI Dattaguru Sawant greets Matilda D’Souza on her 111th birthday in Calangute.
At 111, Matilda D’Souza, popularly known as “Matty”, is possibly the oldest woman living in Goa.
And on October 25, she celebrated her birthday with much fanfare with the who’s who of the village making a beeline to wish her on achieving the milestone.
Calangute MLA Michael Lobo, Sarpanch Joseph Sequeira, Panchayat members and Calangute Police Inspector Dattaguru Sawant along with his staff met the supercentenarian at her residence to wish her.
Matilda D’Souza was born on October 25, 1911 and is reportedly is the oldest known living person in Goa, following the death of the 112-year-old Lourdina Conceicao Lobo on November 3, 2021.
Matilda currently lives in Calangute and is among the oldest living persons in India.
In a special message to the Calangute Police, she said: “I wish you all the best. I wish you all grow looking after the people and doing all the good things for them.”
Calangute Police Station incharge assured her that they will try to keep her message in mind and follow it.
Police visited the residence of Matilda Dsouza as part of an outreach programme for senior citizens to assure them that they are with them in any eventuality.
