The month of September ended with a deficit recorded at 426.7 mm of rainfall even as the Meteorological Department has predicted that the wet weather will continue over the next five days.
Recording for the monsoon season which ended on September 30, after which a new ‘season' starts has recorded the seasonal total from June to September as 2237.9 mm of rainfall.
The rains will, however, continue. Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are very likely to occur at most places over the state at many places on October 2 and 3 and at few places on October 3, 4 and 5, the Met Department has predicted.
The rain has been due to on an upper air cyclonic circulation over east-central Arabian Sea off Karnataka coast extending upto 3.1 km above mean sea level tilting southwards.
Meanwhile, the withdrawal of the monsoon from North India has begun with the monsoon withdrawal line
extending through Uttarkashi, Agra, Shivpur Kalyan and Gandhi Nagar and Dwarka
in Gujarat.
