On the occasion of ‘Dussehra', the MGP started its membership drive at the party's office in Ponda.
Former MLA Lavu Mamledar, Abhay Prabhu, Dr Ketan Bhatikar, councillors Nidhi Mamlekar, Vidya Punalekar, Geetali Talaulikar, former councilor Shailendra Shinkre, Mangesh Kundaikar, Sumeet Verenkar, Sudesh Narvekar and others were present on the occasion. Asked about their plans to contest Lok Sabha elections, Dhavalikar said: "Lok Sabha elections will be announced by 2019. We are starting our work to contest both seats. We are not alliance partners of BJP or any other party. We have supported the front which formed government in the interest of public. Hence we are free to take our decisions." He also added that MGP would take an appropriate decision six months before the Lok Sabha elections. "I appeal to my workers to start party work, considering the election of municipalities and Lok Sabha," he said.

Stating that MGP has been working for the people since the last five decades, Dhavalikar added: "We have pondered over our mistakes in the last election and we are now tackling them in order to make MGP stronger."
"We are starting our membership drive and we will go to people with new policies. All will be taken into confidence to make the party stronger," said Dhavalikar.
