The combine neither bagged any seats nor managed in its mission to decisively split BJP votes to work for the advantage of others.
In five constituencies contested by the combine, the MGP candidates put up a decent score only in Mapusa and Aldona but failed to create any problems for the winning candidate.
MGP’s Vinod Phadke was runner up in Mapusa polling a total of 4,129 votes but his performance was like a pin prick for the winning candidate, Deputy CM, Francis D’Souza who polled 10,957 and ultimately won with a big lead.
Similarly, in Aldona MGP’s Mahesh Satelkar was tipped to give BJP’s, Glenn Ticlo a run for his money but he managed to garner just 3,000-odd votes and was place below AAP’s candidate in the lineup.
In Porvorim, MGP’s Rajesh Amonkar could poll just 222 votes and was consigned to a non-entity in the constituency.
Same story with Shiv Sena’s Saligao candidate, Rajesh Dabholkar who bagged a total of 428 votes, way below the AAP candidate.
Much was expected from GSM in Bardez, but the party floated after the differences between former RSS Goa chief, Subhash Velingkar and BJP over the MoI issue failed to make any impact.
GSM’s candidate, Paresh Raikar who contested from Siolim could manage only 532 votes after a series of meeting addressed by Subhash Velingkar in the constituency.
Attempts to contact GSM president, Anand Shirodkar and other leaders of the
party failed as they were either not attending to their phones.
