Tourism Minister Babu Ajgaonkar may not hesitate to warn vendors of stern action if they make their presence on the beach belt.
The ground reality, however, appears different. Migrant women vendors were found making brisk business at the Colva beach on Tuesday, drawing tattoos on enthusiastic domestic visitors to the world famous beach.
Law enforcement agencies were not seen around to crack a whip against the migrant vendors, only emboldening them to carry out their business as usual.
In fact, Colva locals pointed out that the migrant women vendors had a field day this tourism season, with no action forthcoming from the police and tourism authorities, throwing up questions whether the Tourism Minister’s fiat to the agencies had no impact on the ground.
