Mining Co asked to prepare
ore transportation action plan

The Deputy Collector Quepem (South) has asked a mining company to produce an action plan as to how it would undertake safe ore transportation taking into account the safety of the common people from Quepem.
The decision was taken at the joint meeting which was convened between the Mission Bypass Forum, mining company officials and the Deputy Collector on Friday.
The Mission Bypass members along with other people met Deputy Collector Quepem Prashant Shirodkar with the issue of mining bypass and ore transportation from the main road.
The Mission Bypass members Sanjit Dessai and Pradeep Kakodkar raised the issue of people's safety and demanded a specially dedicated bypass for ore transportation.
They also put forth some demands to regulate mining ore transportation, to install a board giving details of contractor, mining company, etc. They also demanded a helpline service at Tilamol junction, which can be used in case of emergency.
After listening to their demands, the deputy collector instructed a mining company official to deploy their employees at strategic locations from where ore transportation is taking place.
The collector further explained to the Bypass Mission members that ore transportation cannot be stopped completely, but it can be regulated. He later instructed the mining company official to produce an action plan by the company by Tuesday for safe transportation of mining ore, which will also cover the safety of common man.
Deputy Collector, traffic police officials, mining department officials, Mission Bypass members, Pradeep Kakodkar, Sanjit Dessai, James Fernandes and other members were present.
