The State government has revived the Goa Mining Debt relief scheme to help those who have applied for the scheme but are yet to receive the benefits.Announcing the decision taken at the State cabinet meet on Wednesday, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that the window will not entertain fresh applications but only complete the processing of those who had already applied earlier.
"Those people who had applied and for some reason their applications were not considered or were rejected, these applications will be considered," Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said adding that the government had also received requests from banks that some debt relief for mining barges and trucks could not be processed because the scheme ended.
"Those who had applied then and their applications were approved but since the scheme ended, they could not be implemented. So the scheme has been opened till December 2017," Parrikar said adding that according to his estimates there will be 20-30 such applications pending and the liability to the State government will not exceed Rs 10-12 crore.
