SANGUEM
The work of reconstruction of the house of Srimati Rohidas Gaonkar, which was completely destroyed by a fire last week was commenced on Sunday by Sanguem MLA and Minister for Social Welfare Subhash Phaldesssi .
The initiative fulfills the promise made by him to the affected family.
It is pertinent to note here that Srimati Rohidas Gaonkar's house in Villian Bhati was totally gutted by fire following a cylinder blast alongwith all her belongings.
Fortunately, the family was not present at the time of the incident, having spent the night at a neighbour's house due to the lack of electricity at their own home.
On Saturday, Minister Subhash Phaldessai pledged to provide material support for the reconstruction and mobilized local youth for labour through "Shram Dhan".
Keeping with his promise Phaldessai, accompanied by his wife Alka Phaldessai and former Sanguem MLA Vassudev Meng Gaonkar, led the village youth in laying the foundation stone for the reconstruction of Srimati Rohidas Gaonkar's house.
The participation of the village youth highlights the community's solidarity and commitment to assisting those in need.
