Health Minister Vishwajit Rane returned back to Salcete on Sunday to take his mega health camp initiative to the villages, this time underscoring the need for any government to understand the sentiments of the public and act accordingly to fulfil their aspirations.
Addressing the mega health camp at the Primary Health Centre, Navelim, on Sunday, Rane said that the people are looking out for a government which will understand their sentiments and mete out justice. “What kind of a government are the people looking out for in any State. The people look for a government which will understand the sentiments of the people. There’s a need for any government to test and understand the pulse of the people. Politicians should test the pulse rate of the people and act accordingly. We have to move forward. Any government should earn the trust and love of the people,” he said.
At the mega health camp at Margao on Saturday, the Health Minister had devoted a significant portion of his speech to sing praises on Congress-turned-BJP Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, terming the former Congress Chief Minister as his leader, an iconic leader, and a fatherly figure.
The Health Minister had further underscored the need to respect all religions, saying one may take birth in any religion, calling for mutual respect to each other’s religions.
Expressing his commitment to take medical services to the door steps of the people, Rane said what the primary health centres need the most is 24x7 emergency services to cater to the health requirements of the citizens. “There is a demand to set up beds at the PHCs. When the PHCs are just five kilometres from the district hospital, this will serve no purpose. It may render a bedded facility a White Elephant. Instead, we intend to provide 24x7 health and emergency care to the citizens,” he asserted.
Saying that Pernem taluka is the fastest growing taluka in the State, with the Mopa airport in operation and the taluka emerging as a tourist hub, the Health Minister said he is committed to upgrade the health and medical services, with specialities in the taluka.
