Minor rider dies in accident, pedestrian seriously injured

A 15-year-old biker lost his life after his scooter collided with a 76-year-old pedestrian yesterday. 


The accident took place while the boy was traveling from Corlim to Merces Circle via the Kadamba bypass. Old Goa police said that he was rushed to the Goa Medical College for treatment but succumbed to his injuries while pedestrian Usman Shaikh sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving medical care.


The Old Goa police has booked Savitri Kumar, owner of the two wheeler for allowing her underage son to ride the vehicle.


The incident comes exactly two days after the North coastal MLAs visited Director General of Police Alok Kumar seeking his intervention into in owners wherein parents give their vehicles to their underage and unlicensed riders/drivers. While urging parents to refrain from encouraging this, the MLAs cited it has led to several accidents and even fatalities.
