As the Anmod Ghat passage between Goa to Belgaum has been shut for vehicular traffic, the tide of vehicles in Keri area has risen manifold and the traffic nightmares continue for want of planned policy.
On Sunday evening, a cargo-carrying vehicle was found fallen on the side of the road in Keri area, causing a traffic jam for over four hours as vehicles queued up on either side of the road in large numbers.
According to sources, traffic between Goa and Belgaum was diverted to Chorla due to closure of the Anmod Ghat area for the last three months.
Despite the complete ban of heavy vehicles from this area, however, vehicles frequently ply this route.
At around 2.30 pm on Sunday afternoon, a cargo-carrying vehicle coming from Belgaum fell at the side of the road near Lokmanya Cooperative Society in Keri causing a traffic jam that lasted hours.
Vehicular traffic, including passenger buses, were stuck in the jam on either side of the highway till 6.30 pm.
Since the last four days in Sattari taluka and especially in Chorla hill area, due to heavy rainfall, the waterfalls in this area have started flowing. It has been seen that nature lovers come from different parts of the state to enjoy this waterfall.
Even on Sunday, there were a large number of nature-lovers, but due to the jam, they remained stuck in traffic all evening.
