Missing Betalbatim boy found dead in pond

MARGAO
The Std IX school boy from Betalbatim, who had gone missing on Friday, was found dead in a pond in the village on Saturday.

The boy’s father had lodged a missing report after the 14-year-old boy, who is studying in a  local school, had gone missing.

Colva police station in-charge, PI Melson Colaco said the body of the deceased boy was fished out from the pond on Saturday. While suspecting drowning as the likely cause behind the incident, PI Colaco, however, said the exact cause behind the death of young boy will be known after the post-mortem examination.

He pointed out that the boy, Ali Bepari, had returned from school and had later gone out, but did not return home. After a search by the villagers, he said, the body was found lying in a pond.

To a question, PI Melson said the post-mortem examination will be conducted on Sunday, which will ascertain the exact cause of death.
