The politics of family raj appeared to have got a mixed bag in Tiswadi as several candidates from a family got rejected but on the other hand, several others also got elected.

Chimbel though led the way in completely wiping out family raj in the village as five-time panch Chandrakant Kunkolkar was ousted by a newcomer Drishti Kavlekar while his son Pundalik Kunkolkar was ousted by another newcomer, Sandesh Shirodkar.

The same fate was of the Narve family with husband Mohan Narve biting the dust against newcomer Shankar Naik, wife Mohini Narve humbled by Madhulo Mada while their daughter Sujata Narve lost to Mohammad Nizar by 83 votes.

In Se Old Goa, a similar story unfolded with the heavyweight Nilkanth Bhomkar losing out to a newcomer Sapna Bhomkar while his wife Namrata Bhomkar lost out to another newcomer Harshad Dhulapkar.

Another heavyweight Vishal Volvoikar who is also the Cumbarjua Congress block president lost out to his nemesis Vinayak Phadte while Volvoikar's wife Saee lost to Sarika Naik. Vinayak Phadte's wife though lost. Another husband-wife duo of Sandesh and Sandhya Marshelkar also lost.

However, the biggest story of the day was that of the loss of former minister Pandurang Madkaikar's daughter Suhira in Ward 4 of Se Old Goa panchayat where she stood third with only 61 votes. Sandra Gonsalves won in that ward with 131 votes.

In Carambolim, former sarpanch Wilson Valladares lost but his wife Angela won.

In Goa Velha, the husband-wife duo of Thomas and Linette Carvalho both lost. Further, Linette's brother Alfredo Mendes also lost.

In Corlim too, the husband-wife duo of Albino and Yvonne Sequeira both lost, while former sarpanch Caetano Po lost but his wife Freeda Po won.

In Santa Cruz, husband Laxman Bandodkar and wife Shilpa both lost. Also, Mariano Araujo lost while his brother Peter Araujo won.

In Curca, Subhash Shirodkar lost while his wife Sushma Shirodkar won as also in Merces where Anil Hoble's wife Sandhya won while his brother Lavu lost.

But, even as the family raj was outrightly rejected by a few panchayats, in other panchayats it seems to have had no effect as the husband-wife duo of Francisco Po and Paulina Oliveira won in Azossim-Mandur.

Also, the husband-wife duo of Goraknath and Supriya Kerkar won their respective wards in Corlim with Goraknath winning by 26 votes in ward 9 while Supriya winning by two votes against young Richard Pereira.

In Goa Velha, the father-daughter duo of Francisco D'Souza and Carolina D'Souza both won by comfortable margins.

Also in Agassaim, Benny Silveira who is the brother of former MLA Francisco Silveira won while the nephew of the former legislator Allan Silveira was already elected unopposed.
