MLA inspects road restoration works in Mapusa’s Ward 8

Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira on Saturday conducted an inspection of the ongoing road restoration work in Ward 8 of Mapusa municipality, an area that falls within the Aldona constituency. He assured residents that the roads, which were dug up for underground cabling, would be fully restored before the onset of the monsoon.  

Ferreira expressed satisfaction that the restoration work had finally commenced. “The work of restoring the dug-up roads for underground cabling has started in Ward 8. I’m pleased that the tender approved for the Aldona constituency also covers this area of Mapusa. I had given my word a week ago that works in the Mapusa region falling under my constituency would be addressed, and I’m glad to see that happening,” he said.  

The MLA visited Bilou (Bilwan) in Mapusa to review the progress. He stated that residents had endured inconvenience for the past two years due to the delayed restoration of roads. Ferreira confirmed that the damaged road sections would be repaired in phases “ first with macadam, followed by pre-mix and finally hot-mix.  

He also informed that a proposal for comprehensive hot-mixing of roads in the area had been submitted to the government.  

Residents expressed relief at the assurance, hoping the long-standing inconvenience would soon be resolved with durable road repairs.
