Congress-backed Margao Municipal Councillors on Thursday strongly condemned the act of BJP President SadanandTanavade for blaming Margao MLA DigambarKamat and Citizens of Margao for the daylight murder of a jeweller on Wednesday

The Councilors and Congress workers demanded to know why the top brass of the BJP hurriedly descended in Margao after the murder. “After the links of BJP top brass with drugs mafia, beggar mafia, money laundering mafia have got exposed in the last few days, is it that BJP President and Organizing Secretary SatishDhond came to Margao to protect the mastermind behind the murder”, questioned Margao Block Congress President GopalNaik.

The Councillors and Citizens of Margao released a media statement condemning the statements made by BJP office-bearers trying to give political colour to the gruesome incident.

Former CouncillorDamodarShirodkar warned that Madgaonkars will not tolerate baseless, false and misleading allegations against the Citizens of Margao and MLA DigambarKamat. “We want to warn all those including the BJP Office bearers and workers to stop spreading lies and misleading information defaming the Citizens of Margao and Leader of Opposition DigambarKamat, failing which Madgaonkars will be compelled to come on the streets”, he warned.

MMC Councillor Doris Texeira said the murder incident in Margao has raised questions about the safety and security of the women in the State. “The government must ensure that the citizens, especially women are provided security at all times”, she demanded.
