MARGAO:
In the morning, the councillors along the GF leaders Prashant Naik and Mohandas Lolienkar called on the SGPDA sub-committee entrusted with the work of hearing the suggestions and objections to the ODP after they found the Member Secretary Ashok Kumar conspicuous by his absence.
The delegation told the sub-committee comprising Savio Correia, Dilip Prabhudesai and Dilip Soteshkarwar not to submit their report in a hurry, saying the people of Margao, Fatorda and Ponda are watching them from close quarters. They also said the SGPDA Chairman Mauvin Godinho has no right to approve the ODP in haste, warning that Madgavkars will not remain silent if the plan that would remain in force for 10 years is cleared in haste.
The delegation later called on the Member Secretary Ashok Kumar around noon and made a humble plea not to rush with the ODP. “Is there any harm if the ODP is passed after taking into account all factors. Let the exercise take even 3-6 months, but the ODP ought to be done as per the laid down procedure,” he said.
