MARGAO
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar was conspicuous by his absence at the Multipurpose Ground, Borda, on Sunday, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi not only remembered him but urged party workers to draw inspiration from the way he has been working despite his illness.
Before addressing the South Goa party booth workers via video conferencing, the Prime Minister recalled his friendship with Parrikar, terming him as his close friend, while praying for his recovery.
Impressed by the way Parrikar has been working despite his ill health, the Prime Minister said “party workers should draw inspiration from the way the Chief Minister has been working despite ill health” and wished him speedy recovery.
While the Chief Minister was absent at the interaction, party leaders, state party president and Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar, Ministers Mauvin Godinho, Nilesh Cabral and Milind Naik, MP Narendra Sawaikar, MLA Alina Saldanha, senior leaders, Pramod Sawant, Satish Dhond, Damu Naik, Subhash Shirodkar, Sadanand Tanavade, attended the programme.
Tendulkar, Mauvin, Damu and Subhash Shirodkar addressed the workers, giving them a call to take the achievements of the BJP government in the State and at the Centre to the doorsteps of the people.
In his address, Subhash Shirodkar said he has embraced the BJP after seeing the developmental works carried out by the Manohar Parrikar government. He further said that talks about the imminent fall of the Parrikar government has all stopped after he and Dayanand Sopte joined the BJP.
Mauvin Godinho appealed to the workers not to fall prey to the false propaganda of the Opposition. He said even though the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is down with illness, development has not stopped in the State. “I know that the workers may not get what they want because we are running a coalition government. But, the ensuing LS election is an opportunity for the workers to get the two seats for the BJP government in the State with full majority,” he said.
