The State Government has granted 90 days’ extension to the 17-member advisory committee on the Medium of Instruction (MoI) till February 12.
Speaking to The Goan, Committee Chairman Bhaskar Nayak said, “The committee has been given extension of another 90 days. We are likely to complete meetings in another two talukas by next week.”
The Committee has already had meetings in seven talukas - Pernem, Sattari, Valpoi, Bardez, Tiswadi, Ponda and Quepem. The meetings in all these talukas evoked response from at least 150 people, except Tiswadi where only 20 people expressed their opinion.
The State Government on July 15 had constituted a 17-member ‘advisory committee’ under the chairmanship of Director of Higher Education Bhaskar Nayak to advise the government on arriving at an appropriate decision as regards the MoI issue. The committee was required to hold extensive consultations with various stakeholders in education and submit its report within a period of 120 days.
