The Southwest Monsoon has further withdrawn from Goa, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday announcing its retreat from some parts of the state amid hot and humid conditions.
The IMD bulletin stated that the monsoon has also withdrawn from remaining parts of Maharashtra and some parts of Karnataka, Telangana and Odisha, besides additional areas of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.
“An upper-air cyclonic circulation over Lakshadweep and the adjoining southeast Arabian Sea has moved and is now positioned over the south Kerala coast, extending up to 0.9 km above mean sea level,” it said.
Meanwhile, the State recorded a maximum temperature of 35.6°C on Thursday, while the minimum temperature was 24.8°C. The temperature, combined with 62 percent humidity, resulted in a feel-like temperature of around 43°C, keeping conditions uncomfortable.
For the next 48 hours, the IMD has forecast partly cloudy skies over Goa, with haze likely during the early morning hours. Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to remain around 34°C and 25°C, respectively.
