A broken roof at the Government Primary School (GPS) building in Pokewada-Morjim has forced anganwadi children to attend activities on the adjacent stage.
The broken roof at the school has angered parents and residents, who had accused the authorities of neglecting urgent roof-repair work.
According to locals, a large tree came crashing down on the GPS at Pokewada last month, causing extensive damage to the roof. A major tragedy had been averted as the tree fell on the school building at night.
Given the precarious condition of the roof, children are currently attending activities on the adjacent school stage.
Parents have been upset that children are faced with such a situation, even though it is essential to provide safe and appropriate facilities for their education.
They have also questioned the delay by the authorities getting the roof repaired even though the tree had fallen nearly a month ago.
While demanding urgent repairs to the roof, parents have also sought a safe and proper classroom for the students.
