Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) has written to the Transport Department regarding the removal of roadside abandoned vehicles in MMC’s Jurisdiction
MMC Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes on Wednesday wrote to the Director of Transport for cooperation in the regards so that the MMC can remove the road side abandoned vehicles to clear the public nuisance once and for all. Fernandes informed media that he had also attached a copy of the public notice along with the list of abandoned vehicles in MMC

“We had received a letter from the office of Superintendent of Police through the Director or Municipal Administration regarding evicting and removal or the road side Kiosks/ Hawkers/Vendors. I wanted to inform the department that besides the roadside vendors there are several unused/abandoned vehicles within the jurisdiction of this Municipal Council which are a source of public nuisance and pose a possibility of endangering the lives of the pedestrians as well as the motorists,” said Fernandes.
“I have also informed that MMC had accordingly conducted a survey was through the Assistant Municipal Inspectors of this Council and this Council has found 67 vehicles. Notices were Issued to them to remove the same, however many of them have removed the same for few days and the same has resurfaced again. The survey was conducted in the year 2018.”
“However, for the last more than 9 months this Council could not actually remove the same. I have also attached in my letter a A public notice dated 11th January to remove all unused abandoned vehicles was duly published on the newspaper,”
added Fernandes.
