MTS workers in govt dept: Demand to clear issue of Nashik candidates

MARGAO
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Chief Girish Chodankar has demanded that the government come clear on the issue of the candidates from Nashik shortlisted as MTS workers in the Inspectorate of Factories and Boilers.

Addressing the media at the South Goa district office on Friday, the GPCC chief said the department’s website has shown that two candidates shortlisted by the Inspectorate of Factories and Boilers hail from Nashik area of Maharashtra state. “This is a serious issue when unemployed Goan youth are not getting jobs in the State and the department has shortlisted two candidates hailing from outside the State,” he said.

He added: “This is shocking since the candidates were shortlisted even before the controversial Goa Bhumiputra Adhikarini Bill was hastily passed in the Goa Legislative Assembly. The selection of outside candidates for jobs in Goa has come at a time when unemployment amongst local youth have been rampant. Instead of creating new jobs, the government has shortlisted outside youth for employment.”

He demanded that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Dy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar should clear the government stand on the issue, further demanding to know the number of jobs that have been provided to outsiders at the cost of local youth.
