Kiran Munankar, Assistant Information Officer of Department of Information and Publicity was conferred with Patrakar Mitr, a friend of journalist award by Curchoren based Sanguem Quepem Patrakar Sangh, a journalist association. The award was declared last year as part of celebration of its 37th anniversary on August 1, but was not presented at that time due to the pandemic. This award was presented to Munankar at the hands of Dipak Bandekar, Director, Department of Information and Publicity; Dipak Narvekar, Public Relation Officer, Goa Tourism Development Corporation; Allwyn Pereira, Information Officer, Department of Information and Publicity, Siddhesh Samant, Information Assistant and office bearers of Sanguem Quepem Patrakar Sangh, Prahar Sanvordekar and Sarvanand Sawant Dessai at Entertainment Society of Goa, Panjim.
Munankar having joined the Department of Information and Publicity in 2006 as information Assistant was elevated to the post of Assistant Information Officer in 2015 has handled varied and important subjects of the Department. He has been handling various schemes implemented for the welfare of Journalists and has been prompt in processing them, thereby ensuring that journalists get the benefits.
Every year, the association distributes awards and felicitates achievers from education sector on August 1 on Tilak Anniversary but last year it was decided to distribute after pandemic situation eases.
