Cops recover knife used in attack
MARGAO: Three days after the assailants murdered city jeweller Swapnil Walke in broad daylight on Wednesday noon, the Margao police on Friday managed to recover the knife used by the accused to stab the jeweller to death.
The Margao police team on Friday took accused Mustafa Sheikh to Alto Monte, Margao where the accused had allegedly abandoned the weapon after the stabbing incident, which later claimed the life of the young jeweller.
The police team along with the accused and the forensic experts were also present Alto Monte and recovered the knife at the instance of the accused. The knife was later attached under panchanama.
Margao police informed that the accused had abandoned the knife in the buses at Alto Monte while making good their escape from the scene of offense.After firing a shot at the accused and later repeatedly stabbing him with the knife, the three accused had ran towards Alto Monte, with police now saying that the accused had abandoned the knife in the bushes.
After throwing the knife the bushes, the three accused had descended towards the Ashoka Hotel side, where they were believed to have changed clothes and headed towards Panjim on their two-wheelers.
The Margao police has already recovered the country made pistol which was used in the commission of the murder. The police had also recovered a magazine, one empty cartridge, three live rounds besides a knife cover from the jewellery shop on the day of the incident.
