Naval officer granted bail in vapour cloud burst case

VASCO

Naval officer Anurag Rajawat was on Wednesday granted bail in connection with the LPG cylinder vapour cloud burst case.

The South Goa District And Sessions Court released Rajawat of New Vaddem on bail in a LPG cylinder vapour cloud burst case on November 18, 2023, which had claimed the lives of Rajawat’s pregnant wife Shivani (26) and his mother-in-law Jaidevi Chauhan (50).

Vasco Police had arrested Anurag Rajawat under Section 302, and 304-B of I.P.C on January 5. Since Rajawat’s died within seven years of their marriage, Section 304-B was applied and inquiry was conducted by the SDM and Vasco Police.

“The arguments advanced by the advocate for Anurag Rajawat proved that the alleged incident is an accident and that he is been falsely implicated in the said crime which is registered against him. Arguments were heard wherein the Prosecution strongly opposed the granting of bail. In the order pronounced today, the Principal District Judge granted the bail to...Rajawat on certain conditions,” stated the press release by the advocates for Rajawat.
