A resident of Navelim has complained to the Margao police that unknown accused persons caused wrongful loss by inducting him to make payments through UPI.
In his complaint, Aloysius Barretto stated that between 07/08/2026 to 08/08/2026, unknown accused person/s using mobile phone fraudulently induced him through Telegram to make various payments through UPI transections on the pretext of providing certain service.
Believing the representations to be genuine given by the accused, the complainant made the payments of Rs 1,46,361/-, through UPI transections. However, the promised service was not provided and the amounts paid were also not refunded.
Margao police have registered a FIR against unknown accused under section 318 (4) of BNS.
