In a startling revelation, Santa Cruz Deputy Sarpanch Domnic Pereira has stated that a total of Rs 2,97,000 was spent by the previous panchayats from the year 2006 to 2013 in the name of impounding cattle.
Speaking to The Goan, Pereira gave the breakup of the money spent as follows: Rs 55,000 (2006-2007), Rs 24000 (2007-2008), Rs 46000 (2008-2009), 12,000 (2009-2010), 1,10,000 (2010-2011), 44000 (2011-2012) and 6000 (2012-2013).
“The total amount spent on cattle impound comes to Rs 2,97,000 and shockingly no cattle was impounded during these years,” Pereira pointed out while stating that the issue would be placed before the fortnightly meeting and decision would be taken on future course of action.
