MARGAO
Union Minister Shripad Naik on Wednesday said the ongoing protests against developmental projects have thrown up a question whether people were taken into confidence and favoured a dialogue between the protesters and the government to resolve the imbroglio.

The Union Minister further said that though the Centre has been kept abreast of the opposition to the projects, the State government should resolve the issues at the local level.

The Union Minister said the government should take the people into confidence to resolve the issues affecting the projects.

Sripad said he has already spoken to the Chief Minister on the opposition to the development projects. “Let there be discussions to find out whether opposition to the projects will benefit the state or the state will benefit if these projects see the light of day,” he said.

He asserted that all the issues pertaining to the developmental projects should be resolved at the local level, even though the Centre has been kept abreast of the opposition.

Earlier, addressing the GSAI function, Shripad said one has to keep in mind Goa’s development, irrespective of political parties, making a strong case for the people to come together and solve the state’s problem. “Politics will come and go and so the governments. We have to come together and resolve issues by taking the people into confidence,” he added.
