The Goan: In one sentence, why should people vote for you?
Kiran Kandolkar: My association with the people has been through social work since 2007 and later through politics. I have always been with the people during the Covid crisis and the cyclone. Even without having been in power, I have helped people. People are with me and therefore they will vote for me.
TG: If you are part of the government, which is the first legislation you would like to pass in the assembly?
KK: I will work to bring a law to facilitate withdrawing all the mundkarial cases before the deputy collector or any other courts and regularize the houses and specific area of land in the name of the people who occupy it. Secondly, I will work to get a law to regularize houses which at the moment are on comunidade land and henceforth to protect the comunidade land from future encroachments.
TG: Which is that one leader outside your party that you admire as a politician and why?
KK: I always admired Manohar Parrikar. I admired him for his political acumen and his administrative capabilities.
TG: Who would be your CM choice, should your party come into power?
KK: It will be a decision of the party.
TG: Do you justify a merger by 2/3rd or do you consider it as a move against the mandate of people? Explain.
KK: It is always against the people. We also need to amend the anti-defection law so that the Speaker should be compelled to adjudicate any matter on defection within a certain period, maybe within three months. This will help the people to approach the courts for a suitable decision. The best answer to defection will be if people do not vote the defectors to power again in this election.
TG: Do you feel the 2022 election will throw a clear winner? Who are your top three finishers along with seats they are likely to win?
KK: There will be no clear winner. A government with TMC-MGP and other parties will be formed but BJP will not form the government. TMC-MGP will be the single largest party followed by Congress and AAP. BJP will be reduced to a single digit.
