Confusion and anxiety marked the NEET-UG re-examination day in Goa on Sunday after discrepancies emerged between the examination centre details mentioned on admit cards and those communicated through SMS messages to the candidates, leaving several students and parents scrambling to reach the correct venue.
Adding to the day's difficulties, two students who reached an examination centre in Mapusa just three minutes after the reporting deadline were denied entry, drawing disappointment from parents who said the candidates had missed the cut-off by only a narrow margin. As per the NTA rule, the last entry to the exam centre was till 1.30 pm.
The students said that they reached the venue at 1.33 pm and were denied entry.
As per the parents, admit cards issued to candidates mentioned NIT Cuncolim as the designated examination centre. However, some students later received SMS messages referring to Ponda/Farmagudi as their examination venue, triggering uncertainty over where they were actually required to appear for the national-level entrance test.
Parents expressed strong displeasure over the mix-up, questioning how contradictory information could be communicated for a high-stakes national entrance examination. They said the confusion created unnecessary stress for students who were already under immense pressure as the first exam answered by them on May 3 was cancelled due to paper leak.
