MARGAO
This water tank atop Borda hillock has come under the scanner of citizens as the tank supplying water to the locals has been craving for attention.
In fact, a look at the decades-old water tank has revealed that there has been no upkeep and maintenance of the water tank over the years as evidenced by the damaged condition.
In fact, Margao municipality's Borda councillor Camilo Barretto has made a fervent plea to PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral to inspect the water tank on utmost priority and order an inquiry into its neglected state of affairs.
The MMC councillor pointed out that the tank is being covered with tarpaulin sheets in view of the damaged state of the dome-type structure.
“The tarpaulin sheets have failed to prevent birds and animals such as dogs to sit on the damaged dome. One can clearly see bottles inside the tank. This only goes to show that the tank has not been maintained properly over the years,” he said.
Urging the PWD Minister to raze down the tank and build a new tank to meet the water requirements of Borda and other parts of the city, the councillor has feared that the decades-old water tank may give way if excess water is pumped inside the tank.
