AAP leader Ramrao Wagh has questioned the silence of authorities on the inundation of Neura Khazans with saline water even though the bundhs have been repaired.
Speaking to The Goan, Wagh pointed out that crores of rupees have been spent in repairing the bundhs, which should have ensured that the inundation stopped.
“However, to date, the inundation of the Neura Khazans continues and the farmers are unable to cultivate. It appears that the sluice gate operators are deliberately releasing the saline water in the fields and the authorities from the Revenue Department are doing nothing,” Wagh stated.
“It rained for a couple of days and taking advantage of the same saline water was gushed into the fields,” Wagh stated while further questioning the inaction of the local MLA Viresh Borkar in the matter.
“The MLA resides in the village and also owns a field due to which he should be very well aware of the situation faced by fellow farmers who are still cultivating fields. the MLA should use his good office to ensure that the release of saline water into the fields is stopped,” Wagh added.
