NGT orders GCZMA to list all illegal structures online

Tribunal gives three-month deadline to upload details including violators, complainants

PANAJI
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) to upload on its official website a comprehensive list of all unauthorised structures reported through complaints.

A three-member Bench, hearing an execution application filed by Sagardeep Sirsaikar, gave the authority three months deadline to comply with the order.

“We accept the request made by counsel for the execution applicant and direct GCZMA that within three months, all the structures, which are alleged to be unauthorised by some of the complainants, be uploaded on the website of GCZMA, indicating there in the name of the complainants, name of the alleged violators, nature of violations, action taken, present status, etc," the order stated while disposing of the petition.

The Tribunal clarified that the applicant may seek further legal remedy in case of non-compliance.

Earlier, the applicant had objected to GCZMA’s stand stating that it appeared the Authority is only wanting to upload those cases in which demolition orders had been passed. He submitted that all unauthorised structures pending before the authority, irrespective of whether demolition orders were issued or not, should be published online.
