“The NGT has decided that the case be heard on priority and instead of granting a stay, which would take more time the court has directly posted the matter for final hearing September 21,” Abhijit Prabhudesai who is personally arguing the case, told The Goan.
The Federation of Rainbow Warriors had filed a petition in the National Green Tribunal as well as filed an interim application for stay on the Environmental Clearance.
The NGT had fixed March 31 as the last date for the government to file its response to the demand for a stay, but the government failed to do so. However as on August 04, the government had failed to file any counter and as the court decided to proceed ex-parte, government advocate sought for one week time to seek instruction as any stay would affect them.On Tuesday after initial arguments, the court decided to post the matter directly for final hearing.
