Henceforth, there would be no need for a government surety for availing schemes up to Rs 5 lakh of the Goa State Minorities Finance and Development Corporation (GSMFDC) Ltd.

This was revealed at an awareness camp on the scheme for minorities organised by GSMFDC in association with National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC) at Agassaim Church hall on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, GSMFDC Chairman Francisco Silveira informed that not too many people come forward to avail of the schemes meant for the upliftment of the minorities as one of the conditions is providing a government surety.

“However, henceforth there would be no need to provide a government surety for availing loans up to Rs 5 lakh as two private sureties would suffice,” Silveira stated, while adding that the private sureties should have filed their income tax returns.

Silveira further hoped that with this relaxation more people would come forward to avail schemes in the future.

NMFDC Chairman cum Managing Director Abha Rani Singh commended the Goa minorities corporation for achieving third spot in terms of performance in the Western region and hoped that next year it would bag the top spot.

She further urged for public support in getting the schemes implemented and also advised the staff to go to the people in creating public awareness.

GSMFDC Managing Director Sandhya Kamat also spoke on the occasion.

Former MD Ajit Panchwadkar, NMDFC officials Manjo PUnia, Anil Kumar, Niksan Mathur, Javed Al Hassan, GSMFDC Board of Directors, sarpanchas, panchas and others were also present.
