The state government is mulling strict laws to improve the security and check nuisances on the beaches. Chief minister Manohar Parrikar convened a high-level meeting of bureaucrats, police, and stakeholders in tourism industry. Issues discussed at the meeting included ban on venturing into the sea after sunset, increase in work-hours for lifeguards, deployment of additional police forces on the beaches, and measures to tackle tourists who cook food on the beach.
