North Goa Collector Sneha Gitte submitted her response to the Revenue Department on Tuesday in response to the show-cause notice issued to her regarding a communication lapse about a State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) meeting chaired by CM Pramod Sawant.
Officials at the Secretariat confirmed that Gitte’s response was submitted and will be forwarded to the Chief Secretary, who serves as the CEO of the SDMA, for a final decision. However, the contents of her response have been withheld from the media pending the outcome, expected either later this week or early next week.
The notice was issued by Revenue Secretary and SDMA Member Secretary Sandip Jacques (IAS) last Friday after Gitte failed to inform key disaster management officials about the crucial SDMA meeting held on the same day at Mantralaya at 11 am.
The meeting, convened to examine the causes of recent landslides in Goa and to discuss restoration measures, saw several key department heads including the Principal Chief Engineer (Public Works Department) and the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, absent due to the alleged communication oversight.
Gitte was given 72 hours from the receipt of the notice to explain the communication lapse and why action should not be taken against her.
