As his close aide and Margao Mahila Congress Chief Doris Texeira quit the party to embrace the Trinamool Congress, Opposition leader Digambar Kamat told the media that he will stay put in the Congress though rumours doing the rounds are that he would switch sides ahead of the 2022 polls.
“We have seen rumours being spread in the past that Digambar Kamat would leave the Congress and join the BJP to become the Chief Minister. Such reports were being carried out by the media in recent times. I want to tell that Digambar Kamat is still in the Congress and will remain in the Congress”, he told the media, when his reaction was sought to the decision taken by his aide to join the TMC.
The Opposition leader said he does not know the magic TMC applies to woo people to the party. “Doris has been with us over the years. She was with us even a day ago at a programme. She had told me some time back that she has got an offer from the TMC. Since we do not keep anyone tied from leaving the party, I had advised her to study the pros and cons before taking adecision”, Digambar said.
He recalled that his group tried to get her elected from the Comba ward in the Margao Municipal Council polls.
