Seven of the nine members at Se-Old Goa panchayat have moved a no-confidence motion against Sarpanch Vinayak Phadte.
The panchas include Nilkant Bhomkar, Namrata Bhomkar, Prakash Amonkar, Xavier Fialho, Vishal Volvoikar, Anisha Kuttikar and Geeta Parvatkar.
The motion was moved on Friday evening, with the panchas alleging that the sarpanch was promoting illegal constructions in the village, neglecting development works and was not taking the members into confidence.
However, sources inside the panchayat informed The Goan that Phadte was supposed to resign and hand over the reigns to another panch as part of the agreement reached to share the post. “Since he did not resign, the other panchas moved the no-confidence motion against him,” the sources added.
