Chicalim Panchayat has now adopted a resolution to support the circular issued by Director of Panchayats (DoP) to get files cleared by the department instead of the PWD.
According to Deputy Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav, the resolution was passed during a meeting and it was submitted to the Mormugao BDO on Monday.
"The resolution was passed unanimously. We informed the BDO that the circular was again placed before the panchayat meeting, wherein all the doubts were cleared.”
“The panchayat body has now concluded that it does not have any objection to the DoP circular and has also requested the government to withdraw with immediate effect the previous letter of objection, which was earlier submitted by the Chicalim panchayat," said Yadav.
It may be recalled that Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho had set up a Technical Cell and had assured that all development files sent by panchayats in the State to the Technical Cell of the panchayat department would be cleared within 10 working days.
Defending the creation of the Technical Cell, the minister had said that files were earlier being referred to PWD for sanction, which involved lengthy delay, and this delay had been cut short by creating a cell in the department.
