In an effort to enhance amenities and provide satisfaction to passengers, the Konkan Railway (KR) has launched a novel leisure and wellness feature at the Tivim railway station.
The newly commissioned recreation and wellness facility (Relax Zone) at Tivim is the first of its kind facility by railways in India.
According to KR officials, the fully air-conditioned kiosk, comprising a relaxing wellness chair and a virtual reality facility with short duration cinema (film) offers passengers a pleasant and relaxing experience at the station.
The Relax Zone facility is situated at Platform No 1 of the Tivim Railway Station.
The recreation space was inaugurated at the hands of Chief Guest Santosh Kumar Jha, Director (operations and commercial), Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) along with other officials of KR.
“KR is doing its best to provide modern facilities at the railway stations in a bid to enhance comfort and improve the passenger experience. Passengers can now spend quality time while waiting for their trains,” said Santosh Jha, Director KRCL.
The KR has contracted the recreation space to a private entity that will look after the facility and its maintenance.
The facility will come for a price and an appropriate rate has been fixed for specific facilities and for a specified time.
A KR official informed that the relax zone is designed under a non-fare revenue model.
The KRCL has plans to start such relaxation zones at other railway stations in the State and the country.
