A young cadet from Gujarat, undergoing training at the NUSI Maritime Academy was found dead hanging in a bathroom early Wednesday morning.
Cuncolim police has ruled out foul play in the death of 22-year old Devang Kumar Tandel, a native of Wadsal-Gujarat. Cuncolim police station in-charge PI Gurudas Kadam said the body of the deceased was handed over to his relatives after the post mortem at Hospicio on Thursday.
The incident came to light early Thursday morning when the cadet failed to report at the early morning parade. A search by the students later revealed that he was found in the bathroom with the door latched from inside. After the students entered the bathroom, they found the body hanging on the shower. The body was later lowered down by his colleagues. The police were informed about the incident by the manager of NUSI Maratie Academy Neeraj Aquair.
PI Kadam said that the cadet was scheduled to answer his final examination on December 15.
