A 53-year-old government servant from Kasarvarne-Pernem died in a road accident near the forest check post at Assonora on Friday.

According to Bicholim Police, Gurudas Shetkar was proceeding towards Bicholim on his motorcycle (GA-03-A-6724), when the driver of a truck carrying crushed powder which was proceeding from Dodamarg towards Karaswada lost control of the vehicle near the forest check post at Assonora.

Police further informed that the truck knocked down the motorcycle and crushed the deceased before turning down on its side. The impact was that Gurudas died on the spot. The truck also hit another motorcycle (GA-04-J-2032), damaging it.

Police said the truck driver lost control of the truck, as he was busy in placing the gear box which had become loose.

Bicholim Police arrested the truck driver Mithilesh Chandrik Shah from Bihar. The body was sent to GMC Hospital in Bambolim for post mortem.

PSI Gaurish Parab is investigating the case under the guidance of PI Narayan Chimulkar.
