MARGAO
The dengue scare in Margao refused to die down as the Margao Urban Health Centre has confirmed that a person from the management of a city school was infected with dengue.
Given the situation, a health team from the Directorate of Health Services inspected the Margao police station headquarters as well as the school to ascertain the source and the breeding sites, if any.
It may be recalled that three police personnel attached to the Margao police station have been infected by dengue.
Margao Urban Health Officer, Dr Baptista Fernandes, informed that a person from the school management was infected with dengue around 2-3 days ago. He, however, said that the health centre has no information till date whether any of the students have fallen ill with dengue.
“As a precautionary measure, the health team had carried out fogging of the Margao police station and the school premises on Saturday. We will step up surveillance at the two places,” he said.
He said the health team that inspected the Margao police station area has made certain recommendations to abate the situation.
