The gram sabha of Netravali Village Panchayat held today at the panchayat building saw participation of barely around 12 gram sabha members.
While an opposition panchayat member claims the
non-participation of the villagers at the gram sabha was owing to the callous attitude of the ruling panchayat members in getting the desired development in the village. Sarpanch Bunda Varak attributed the very poor response for the gram sabha by the villagers due to their domestic work schedule.
Villagers also claimed that they were not aware of the scheduled gram sabha, which was also denied by the Sarpanch who claimed that notices of the gram sabha were duly pasted at the designated places within the panchayat area.
Meanwhile at the gram sabha held on Sunday, panchayat member Rakhi Naik proposed for the regularisation of around 50 daily wage workers from the village working at the Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary while also demanding immediate increase in their daily wages from Rs 405 presently being paid to them.
Naik demanded that the panchayat should write to the Forest Department to pay the village youth employed at the Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary on par with other workers at the Netravali Wild Life Sanctuary who are paid higher wages.
She also demanded that the contract for safari vehicle presently being plied by the Forest Department at the Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary be allotted to the village youth. This would help the villagers get some income by operating their vehicles for the safari tours.
A villager at the gram sabha also raised the issue of the pending construction work of Balwadi in the village.
Though the foundation stone for the construction of the Balwadi was laid in the year 2021 by the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, the project is held up reportedly due to non-availability of desired land for the construction of the Balwadi.
The villagers however demanded that the work of the construction of the Balwadi be taken up immediately after solving the issue of availability of the land.
