KRC General Manager (Public relations) Baban Ghatge said that the train was heading towards Mumbai after starting the journey from Karmali on Sunday morning when some passengers were taken ill before the train reached Chiplun.
He said the train continued the journey after some of the the passengers were taken to a hospital in Chiplun.
Replying to a question, Ghatge pointed out that the KRC does not look into the catering services of the luxury trains, including the Tejas Express, adding that such services are handled by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation.
Meanwhile, IRCTC in a press release said a show-cause notice has been served on the catering contractor and strict action will be taken if found guilty.
It stated further that the local hospital in Chiplun said no patient was in a serious
condition.
Food samples have been taken for testing.
