Overgrown bushes blamed for road mishap in Kalay

Overgrown bushes blamed for road mishap in Kalay

SANGUEM

A minor accident involving a four-wheeler and a KTC bus occurred near Marquis Farms, Costi-Kalay. Fortunately, the occupants of the car, who were travelling from Kalay to Sanguem, escaped unhurt.

The incident, which took place at a sharp turn, has been directly attributed to the overgrown roadside bushes that have encroached upon and narrowed the already restricted road leading to Kalay village from Sanguem.

Villagers from Kalay have reportedly made frequent demands over the last few months for the authorities to cut these bushes, but these requests have gone unheeded.

Advocate Amar Naik, a local villager, highlighted the jurisdictional overlap, noting that the road falls under the Uguem Panchayat and partly under the Sanguem Municipal Council.

“However, neither body has addressed the community’s concerns, ultimately leading to this accident,” said Naik.
