It will be a fourfold elevation in three years for Reshma Bandodkar, who is set to be elected as president of North Goa Zilla Parishad.
Having been nominated by the BJP to the post, newly elected Reis Magos ZP member Bandodkar filed her nomination to the post and the results will be announced officially on Tuesday. The post of North Goa ZP president is reserved for women.
This will be Bandodkar’s fourth elevation in three years, after she got elected as a panch of Pilerne-Marra during elections on August 10, 2022. Since the post of sarpanch was reserved for women, Bandodkar was later elected as sarpanch.
At the ZP elections on December 20, Bandodkar had contested the Reis Magos ZP constituency on BJP ticket and won the election by a margin of 3,584 votes.
Following her election as ZP member, Bandodkar submitted her resignation as panch of Pilerne-Marra last week to the Director of Panchayats. Dy Sarpanch Ajay Govekar is now serving as acting sarpanch of the Pilerne–Parra.
According to sources, the Pilerne–Parra panchayat has no immediate plans to elect a new woman sarpanch.
“As per law, the post of the panch, which has become vacant with the resignation of Reshma Bandodkar, needs to be filled within six months by holding a bye-election,” said the source.
