In a stern message that no administrative hurdle will be tolerated while providing benefits of government schemes to people, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant warned that panchayat secretaries causing unnecessary delays or obstacles to the ‘Mhaje Ghar’ scheme would be suspended within eight days.

Sawant was addressing the Sarkar Tumchya Dari (government at your doorstep) initiative organised as part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan for Pernem taluka at the Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government Arts and Commerce College, Pernem, in the presence of Pernem MLA Praveen Arlekar, Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar, former MLA Dayanand Sopte, Chief Secretary, Dr V Candavelou, Secretary (Civil Supplies) Sanjiv Gadkar, IAS and other government officials.

The chief minister said efforts would be made to resolve issues raised by citizens and appealed to people to submit their detailed grievances in writing along with their name and contact details for necessary action.

Stating that the ‘Mhaje Ghar’ scheme is important in terms of housing issues of citizens, Sawant said the administration needs to work sensitively while implementing this scheme.

He felt it was not right for citizens to have their work pending unnecessarily in government offices even after completing the necessary documents and necessary certificate from the Deputy Collector's office.

“If the panchayat secretary compels citizens to make repeated rounds to the panchayat office even after receiving the certificate or deliberately delays implementing the ‘Mhaje Ghar’ scheme, such delays will not be tolerated. Action will be taken to suspend the panchayat secretary concerned within eight days,” warned Sawant.

Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar said the purpose of the Sarkar Tumchya Dari initiative had been to resolve various issues faced by people.

Later, the chief minister, MLAs and government officials attended to various public grievances and sought to understand the obstacles faced in getting benefits of government schemes. They also addressed complaints regarding the functioning of government departments.
